The Silverudd's Blue (formerly Isbar) is the only pure breed of chicken to lay a green egg. The "Blue" refers to the feather, not the egg color.  It was the very last breed to be created by the Swedish poultry geneticist, Martin Silverudd. In 2016, the Swedish Cultural Hen Association renamed the breed "Silverudd's Blue" to pay homage to the monk who famously created such breeds as the 55 Flowery Hen, Smaaland, and Queen Silvia. Martin Silverudd died before completing the Silverudd's Blue breed so there is still a lot of confusion and discord over what the breed is supposed to look like and be. Silverudd's Blues come in blue, black, and splash. They are a medium sized bird with piercing dark eyes and lay beautiful green eggs, often with speckling. All of our birds have been DNA tested and all are homozygous for the blue egg gene. The blue feather color does not breed true in chickens. Chicks hatched from these eggs can hatch out either blue, black, or splash.
 
******We no longer maintain a large breeding flock of the Silverudd's Blues. We have only kept back a quad of birds for our own personal breeding projects. Chicks and eggs will only be made available when we are done hatching for ourselves. Hatching eggs will only be available in 1/2 dozen. The proposed APA Standard of Perfection has the Silverudd's Blue Standard as having yellow skin. This is different from the Swedish Standard of Perfection. We have been breeding to the Swedish Standard as Sweden is the origin of this breed. Two of our hens have white skin and since white skin is dominant, some of the chicks may inherit it as well.

If you cannot take your hatching eggs or chicks for any reason, you will be moved to the next hatch date. We will allow up to 3 reschedules, after which, the amount paid and the items in the order are considered forfeit. No refunds. We have a limited number of hatching eggs and chicks each year. When you reserve eggs or chicks, you are keeping others from being able to place their order.
 
There are no returns or refunds. We only issue refunds if we cannot fulfill your order by the end of the 2025 season. Hatching eggs are sold in either 1/2 dozen or 1 dozen. We only ship within the state of California. If you have a shipping address that is outside of California, your order will be cancelled. If you'd like to have your hatching eggs or chicks shipped, please add the appropriate shipping at checkout. Minimum of 6 chicks and maximum of 12 chicks for shipping. Maximum of 2 dozen hatching eggs per order. If you need to order more than this, please place multiple orders. Otherwise, choose "Pickup". When your order is up next in line, you will be contacted with a pickup date.
