The Brown Leghorn is an offshoot of the old favorite, the White Leghorn. We breed the Danish light brown variety. They lay medium to large bright white eggs. Hens are rarely broody. The breed is somewhat flightly but nowhere near as flightly as the White Leghorn. Both hen and roosters grow large single combs that bend over as mature birds. They do very well in a free range setting and are usually found on the very top roosting bar. We have found that the roosters of this breed are great at maintaining order in their flocks.

There are no returns or refunds. We only issue refunds if we cannot fulfill your order by the end of the 2025 season. Hatching eggs are sold in either 1/2 dozen or 1 dozen. We only ship within the state of California. If you have a shipping address that is outside of California, your order will be cancelled. If you'd like to have your hatching eggs or chicks shipped, please add the appropriate shipping at checkout. Minimum of 6 chicks and maximum of 12 chicks for shipping. Maximum of 2 dozen hatching eggs per order. If you need to order more than this, please place multiple orders. Otherwise, choose "Pickup". When your order is up next in line, you will be contacted with a pickup date.

We prefer local pickup in Fresno, California. We will ship hatching eggs and chicks only within the state of California. If your shipping address is outside the state of CA, your order will be cancelled. Hatching eggs are packed pointy side down in a custom foam shipper and shipped via USPS Priority Mail 2-3 Days ($40 flat rate). Chicks are shipped via USPS Priority Mail in an approved, ventilated box with grogel, feed, a nonslip nesting pad underfoot, and heat packs if needed ($70). Buyer can also choose USPS Priority Mail Express 1-2 Days for eggs ($70) or chicks ($100). All shipping costs include the 2025 USPS surcharge of $15 extra for perishable and live products. There is a minimum of 6 chicks and a maximum of 12 chicks per box. There is a max of 2 dozen hatching eggs per box. If you order more than 12 chicks or 2 dozen eggs for shipping, you will need to place multiple orders. Please choose the correct shipping amount at checkout or choose "Pickup" for local pickup. Hatching eggs, chicks, and poultry treatments cannot be shipped together. They must be shipped separately.
