The Ayam Cemani is often known as the "All Black" chicken. Although it is not the only breed of all-black chicken, it is definately the most well-known and sought after. This breed has its origins in Indonesia where it is still bred today. Everything about the Ayam Cemani is black: feathers, meat, skin, internal organs. Contrary to what the scammers say, Ayam Cemani do NOT lay black eggs. No breed of chicken lays black eggs. Ayam Cemani lay small to medium sized white to cream colored eggs.
 
******We no longer maintain a large breeding flock of the Ayam Cemani. Instead, we are exclusively pair and trio breeding the best birds that we have kept for ourselves to hopefully create the best specimens possible. Hatching eggs and chicks will only be made available when we are done hatching for ourselves and/or our incubator is full. Because we have so few birds, hatching egg orders will only be available in 1/2 dozen and only when available. This is a VERY high cull breed. Even with two solid black parents, most of the offspring will not be breeder quality. We make no guarantees on the quality of chicks. Chicks may hatch with white toes or nails, pink in the mouth, or may develop feather leakage, mulberry, or bent combs. As we work on perfecting our line, we are selling all of our Ayam Cemani chicks as "pet quality" and current pricing reflects that. If you are purchasing chicks, understand that we will be keeping the best chicks for our own breeding project so you may or may not get the chicks with the best fibro expression. No breeder will guarantee high fibro expression in their birds, but if you're looking for breeder quality birds, we would be happy to point you in the direction of some show breeders but be prepared to pay top dollar.
 
We are members of the Ayam Cemani Breeder's Association and keep the proposed American Standard of Perfection in mind but are currently breeding our birds to the original Indonesian standard which calls for a slightly larger bird with 3,5, or 7 point combs. Our breeding birds have no feather leakage and are all DNA tested to carry two copies of the fibro mutation. Mouths are mostly black but 2 hens have gray tongues.

Hatching and collecting eggs depends on the weather, fertility, and when hens lay. We cannot guarantee a specific date, only a spot in line. If you cannot take your hatching eggs or chicks for any reason, you will be moved to the next hatch date. We will allow up to 3 reschedules, after which, the amount paid and the items in the order are considered forfeit. No refunds. We have a limited number of hatching eggs and chicks each year. When you reserve eggs or chicks, you are keeping others from being able to place their order.
 
There are no returns or refunds. We only issue refunds if we cannot fulfill your order by the end of the 2025 season. Hatching eggs are sold in either 1/2 dozen or 1 dozen. We only ship within the state of California. If you have a shipping address that is outside of California, your order will be cancelled. If you'd like to have your hatching eggs or chicks shipped, please add the appropriate shipping at checkout. Minimum of 6 chicks and maximum of 12 chicks for shipping. Maximum of 2 dozen hatching eggs per order. If you need to order more than this, please place multiple orders. Otherwise, choose "Pickup". When your order is up next in line, you will be contacted with a pickup date.
